The Addison Central School district is seeking a Teacher Aide for the Tuscarora Elementary School. The work involves responsibility for assisting teachers in the performance of their duties by performing a wide variety of non-professional tasks associated within the teaching process. The work is carried out in accordance with strictly defined procedures as assigned and directed by a certified teacher and involves relieving a teacher of that part of their duties, which while related to the teaching process, can be performed by non-certified personnel.  Work is performed under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, but with some leeway allowed the incumbent for the exercise of independent judgment in the performance of those tasks, which are routine and/or clearly defined. Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

· Assists in overseeing the technical operations of computer-aided instruction and language labs, and assists students in the use of the specialized equipment involved;

· Assists school teachers with their duties in various locations within the school;

· Performs a variety of clerical duties for one or several teachers, such as typing tests and study materials from teacher's drafts, typing letters to parents from the teacher concerning their child’s status, need for conferencing, and may schedule meetings for teachers

· Dependent upon grade or age level of student, may monitor student activity in ways other than the educational process e.g. oversee students during recess; in the library; during meal periods; toileting 

· Helps to set up science laboratory equipment and conduct experiments, and performs limited review of student laboratory reports;

· Attends to the special needs of pupils with handicapping conditions and/or learning disabilities;

· Assists in technology preparedness;

· Prepares visual teaching aides for use by teachers during instruction;

· Proctors and otherwise helps in the conduct of examinations;

· May assist teachers in correcting test papers, recording grades, maintaining files, and preparing statistical reports; and

· Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

School Monitor (Cafeteria)SM06052025

School Monitors in the cafeteria will assist cafeteria staff in the performance of their functions by performing varied duties associated with food services and the supervision of students in the cafeteria. This position is four (4) hours/day.

Responsibilities of a School Monitor in the cafeteria include:

1. Maintains order in the cafeteria during meal periods.

2. Assists teachers by monitoring the activities of pupils when they are engaged in activities during the lunch period.

3. Supports students to obtain breakfasts and/or lunches.

4. Support students in using appropriate social skills in the school and in the cafeteria.

5. Assist with the de-escalation of students who are in crisis or who need behavioral support during meal periods.

6. Refers issues requiring additional assistance to the building principal and other food service staff as necessary and appropriate.

7. Assists in various kitchen duties when required.

8. Sweeps, mops and disposes of garbage.

9. Moves recyclables to appropriate location.

10. Maintains inventory on condiment packets and paper supplies.

11. Posts cafeteria line signs.

12. Cleans chairs, tables, walls, floor and other surfaces in dining room.

13. Completes want list items for orders.

Food Service HelperFS05272025

Addison Central School District seeks a Food Service Helper whose work involves responsibility for assisting in the large scale preparation and service of food and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment.  The work is carried out in accordance with standard, well-established and accepted, clean, safe, and sanitary techniques and procedures.  Work involves assisting with meal preparation, delivery, and/or service and cleaning and sanitizing of the kitchen and dining areas, equipment, dishes, and utensils.  Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher ranking food service/kitchen employee or supervisor, with some leeway allowed the incumbent for the exercise of independent judgment in the carrying out of routine tasks.  Closer supervision is exercised over the performance of tasks that are new, unusual, or more difficult than usual.  On occasion, employees in this class may perform cooking duties involving lesser degrees of skill than regularly required of employees in the classification of Cook.  Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

1) Assists in the set up and delivery of prepared bulk foods and/or individual meals following established serving procedures;

2) Serves food items, replenishing stocks as necessary;

3) Cleans, washes, and otherwise prepares fruit and vegetables for cooking and/or serving;

4) Assists in the preparation of salads and desserts;

5) Assists Cooks in any phase of their duties as directed;

6) May prepare and deliver individual nourishments according to request or dietary restriction as determined by supervisors;

7) May perform routine tasks such as dishing up desserts, buttering bread, and making toast;

8) Sets and clears tables, fills sugar bowls and salt and pepper shakers, and polishes silverware;

9) Washes dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils, and silverware by hand and/or by dishwashing machine;

10) Sweeps, mops, cleans, and sanitizes food storage, preparation, cooking, serving, and dining areas, furniture, and equipment;

11) May reorder non-food supplies;

12) Assists in restocking items needed for dining, preparation, and cooking areas;

13) Assists in rotating and dating items;

14) May take counts to help determine amounts of food needed;

15) May perform duties as a Cashier on a part time basis;

16) May be required to attend in-service education sessions; and

17) Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

$15.50/hour
