The Addison Central School district is seeking a Personnel Clerk. This is a 12-month, Non-Unit, Civil Service position and is a Competitive Class (test required). The work involves responsibility for the performance of highly specialized clerical functions relating to the processing and maintenance of personnel forms and records for the school district. The work is carried out in accordance with standard, well-established public sector personnel office methods and procedures and involves orientation of new employees, maintenance of personnel files, and preparation of civil service forms for filing with the county Civil Service agency. Work is performed under the supervision of the Executive Director of Finance and Operations or his/her designee, with some leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out standard tasks for which methods are clearly established. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities
Meets with all new employees and directs completion of their required employment documents;
Assists with verification and status of titles, classifications and certifications;
Reviews fringe benefits with new employees;
Maintains personnel files;
Maintains employee time and attendance records and processes absence reports (including injury reports, workers comp, and FMLA) ;
Prepares Report of Personnel Change forms to inform the local civil service agency of all non-instructional employee changes;
Reviews and supports recommendations for new hires and terminations for the Superintendent's Office;
Prepares a variety of reports, correspondence and memorandums regarding personnel matters where accuracy in typing is more important than speed;
Maintains financial records for the accounts used to pay insurance premiums and Social Security payments for employees;
Maintains listings of individual bargaining units and other figures and statistics;
Completes employment verification requests;
Assists in the preparation of audits and regulatory reviews;
Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
