Senior Typist (12 Month)

  • Ability to independently conduct routine correspondence on matters where policies and procedures are well defined;
  • Ability to work from rough draft or from data personally developed;
  • Ability to work with a variety of document formats such as accounting and financial statements, payrolls, statistical tabulations and data, form letters, memoranda, vouchers, reports, requisitions, and other items;
  • Skill in the operation of keyboarding, data entry, and calculating equipment and other office machines;
  • Skill in composition and preparation of documents and proofing for completeness, accuracy, and conformity with established criteria;
  • Skill in the preparation, processing, indexing, sorting, recording, and filing of a variety of control records and reports;
  • Working knowledge of the types of  accounts, reports, and other documents indigenous to the office/department/unit in which employed;
  • Working knowledge of supervisory skills and techniques;
  • Working knowledge of documents contained in personnel records; and
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Preference is for candidates who have previous school office experience. 
Abiliity to prioritize and quickly shift from one task to another, and strong communication skills are required. 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Operates keyboarding, data entry, calculating, and other office machines;
  • Answers telephone or relieves staff at switchboard and gives out routine information;
  • Conducts routine correspondence on matters where policies and procedures are well defined;
  • May act as secretary to an official;
  • Performs a variety of responsible clerical duties indigenous to the office/department/unit in which employed;
  • Types/enters a variety of materials working from rough draft or from data personally developed;
  • Assigns, reviews, and records work done by subordinates;
  • Instructs new employees in the specialized work of a unit;
  • Oversees and participates in the preparation, review, proofing, processing, indexing, sorting, recording, and filing of a variety of records, reports, and accounts;
  • Maintains personnel records and prepares payrolls; and
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Starting at $17.00/Hour
