Addison Central School District seeks Substitute Licensed Practical Nurses (L.P.N.). Work will be on a call-in, as-needed basis. Interested candidates must have a current L.P.N. license and experience working in a school district is prefered.
This substitute nursing position involves the responsibility routine medical care and treatment of patients in accordance with detailed and well-defined policies, rules, and regulations. The work is performed in accordance with well-established and accepted professional nursing practices, special orders from physicians, rules, and regulations. Work is performed pursuant to treatment orders as given by Physicians, under the direct and continual supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Administers medications as prescribed by a physician or RPN;
Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees;
Takes the temperature, notes the rate of pulse and respirations, takes blood pressure and observes and records other signs and symptoms;
Carries out uncomplicated therapeudic treatments, preparing and applying simple dressings;
Assists in maintaining simple activity records and assists in the maintenance of charts and files;
Works with School Nurse or physician in conducting vision, hearing, and other medical testing of individuals;
May give personal hygienic care;
Lifts and moves patients as required; and
Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
